Importance of Taste

I was trying to explain and summarise "Thinking Fast and Slow" book to a friend, and the analogy I ended up using was Taste:

"Taste is an emotional response, if a taste is developed it can be super helpful, it can help chose a better movie to watch, the better book to read, better start-up to shortlist for due diligence. We shouldn't trust our taste unconditionally, but develop taste helps us filter much faster. A specialist needs to have a good taste in the outcomes of their craft. Undeveloped taste can be dangerous, because it doesn't filter outright things, and risks falling into bike-shedding conversations."

I still like this analogy, though, now that I had a day to think about it I see that I focused too much on the "Thinking Fast" part of the book, and not enough on "Thinking Slowly".

In any case I strongly recommend the book!
